What are the Other Options for Projection on TV?
It is not necessary that you have to mirror your laptop’s screen on the TV. When you press “Windows+P” on the keyboard and a projection sidebar pops up, you see four options
- DISCONNECT
This will allow you to disconnect from your LG TV and everything will only appear on your laptop screen but the TV. But it is not actually disconnected as you can change projection options instantly.
- DUPLICATE
This is the actual mirroring option. Whatever appears on the Laptop Screen will appear on the LG TV. So the laptop’s screen is mirrored on the TV screen.
- EXTEND
A laptop screen can have many windows open at the same time. While using this option you allow specific windows to be opened on the TV and the rest will not appear on the TV screen even if they are opened on the laptop’s screen.
Also if you are connected to more than one TV, you can launch multiple windows and screen them on separate TVs.
- SECOND SCREEN ONLY
This one allows you to close the Laptop screen and things will only appear on the TV while the laptop screen is blacked out.
Can my Apple Macbook also Connect to my LG TV?
Yes, Apple Macbooks can also be connected to your smart TV but they use AirPlay to mirror the screen. Your TV needs to require AirPlay for this though. Airplay will also require you to connect both devices on the same network.
Go to settings and then select display. The rest of the process will be similar to that of the Windows explained above.
How do I Connect my Laptop to my LG TV without Mirroring the Screen?
The most common practice among people is Screen share but LG provides another solution which is the device connector settings.
On the home screen, you will find an option named “Device Connector”. Selecting it will take you to a series of options for devices including smartphones and laptops.
