Having owned a number of Hitachi TVs over the years, I’ve run into the frustrating issue of the screen suddenly going black while the sound still works.

Resetting leaves picture adjustments back at original values in case changes like contrast or brightness caused the blank display.
4. Attempt a Forced Factory Reset
If none of the above actions bring back the Hitachi’s picture, attempting a forced factory reset may get the display functioning again:
- Turn off the TV
- Press and hold the POWER button on remote
- Keep holding power button for 20-30 seconds
- Stop holding – this should force a factory reset
This wipes all settings and reinstalls the TV’s firmware from scratch.
5. Contact Technical Support
Should all troubleshooting fail to restore the display, it’s best reaching out to Hitachi’s technical customer service online or via phone.
They can help diagnose what internal hardware defect might be causing the ongoing black screen issue.
Replacement parts or board repair may be required.
